AnubisAnubis was the primary god of the dead before Osiris took over the job. Anubis then became the god of mumification, who also weighed people's "hearts" once they had died, feeding the evil ones' souls to Ammit. Anubis' head is that of a jackal, jackals are not black, but his black head shows his power over the dead.
